Mici Studio started as a one-way ticket.

That ticket turned into a year on the road.

The Traveler

Hi! I'm Michaela, but my friends call me Mici (pronounced Mickey).

For the past couple of years, I've been traveling solo across the globe, living out of a carry-on and soaking up everything I could. Nothing sharpens your eye like being somewhere unfamiliar. That habit of noticing what gives a place its character runs through everything I do, from the brand work to the canvas.

The Studio

I didn't set out to be a designer. I spent five years in business development at an ad agency, partnering with client services and the executive team, close enough to the creative work to know I wanted in. Then the agency rebranded under its parent company, the rollout landed on my desk, and I found myself redoing our social accounts, rebuilding our templates, and developing a new website. Handling the whole system end to end taught me I'd rather craft brands than pitch them.

That rebrand opened a door, and I kept walking through it until I bought a one-way ticket to find out what was next. Mici Studio came together on the road, one country at a time, built on everything that came before it and everything the traveling taught me to notice.

Through the studio, I work with people building something they care about, who want a little adventure in how it gets made. A brand is a place, too. Someone should be able to arrive and know exactly where they are.

The Artist

Outside the studio, I paint the landscapes I've traveled through, mostly in oil, though I like wandering into acrylics, screen printing, and ceramics too. The paintings are where the traveling and the making meet most directly. Each one is a place that moved me, kept on canvas.

It's all one instinct. The strategist who understands how a brand grows, the traveler who knows what makes a place feel like itself, and the painter who wants to capture that feeling. Whether I'm at an easel, shaping a client's brand, or mapping out a new city, I'm making something worth coming back to. The best work is like your favorite place: you carry it with you long after you've left.
